it is either can either be an eyeshadow or an eyeliner.Why is that kind of makeup known as smokey eyes ?

its a gradual change from black to a light gray and sometimes even white (if you're pale as i am)


its called smokey eyes because the effect is done on the top lid as well as the lower lid and becasue the colors are so dark it makes your iris look as thought its smouldering, and the shadow around it is the smoke.
Because dark colors surround your eyes of different shades, and so it looks like ';smoke';. lol
use black eyeliner, grey and black shadows well smudged, you can also put some white to the blend for a lighter effect.
